Shawn Johnson

Shawn Machel Johnson ( born January 19, 1992 Des Moines, Iowa) is an American artistic gymnast.

Sports

Shawn Johnson began in 1995 with the gymnastics. At the U.S. Junior Championships in 2006 in St. Paul she reached her first outstanding results. She won the title at the jump on the balance beam, on the ground and in the all around. On uneven bars, she won the silver medal. Since 2007, it starts in the elite field and won in San Jose in their first championship title at the bottom, on the balance beam and in the all around. On uneven bars was added bronze. Johnson was also at the Pan -American Games in Rio de Janeiro with the team in the all around, uneven bars and win on the balance beam. On the ground, they came in second. Also very successfully launched the young American at the World Championships in Stuttgart. Johnson won here with the team in the all around and on the ground and was on the balance beam eighth. Only her routine on the uneven bars, she graduated from less successful than 41. At the U.S. Championships, she won the title again in the all around.

Successfully ran for Johnson and the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. She won both the team, and in the all-around behind her teammate Nastia Liukin and on the ground behind the Romanian Sandra Izbaşa silver. On the balance beam she could win the gold medal.

2010 Shawn Johnson has the torn cruciate ligament while skiing. After two operations in 2011 she ventured a comeback. Pain in the knee forced at the Visa Championships 2011, however, to give up the floor exercise and perform only a simplified beam exercise. She has not qualified for the World Championships in Tokyo. In 2012 she gave her resignation from the sport known.

Private

Shawn Johnson attended a public high school in Iowa. At the latest by winning the gold medal at the Olympic Games, she won popularity in the United States. Among other things, she said the Pledge of Allegiance at the nominating convention of the Democratic Party in 2008.
