Llanystumdwy

Llanystumdwy is a town and large village on the Lleyn Peninsula (Pen Llŷn ) in the County of Gwynedd, Wales, in the former cantref Eifionydd. Since 1934 part of the parish of Usk is also one of Llanystumdwy.

General

Llanystumdwy is located on the bridge of the main road between Criccieth and Pwllheli in the east to the west over the River Afon Dwyfor. The old stone houses of the village are listed buildings, including the local pub Tafarn y Plu (English " The Feathers " ), and the two houses ( Tŷ Newydd and Highgate ) by David Lloyd George, the British Prime Minister later.

This most famous inhabitants of Llanystumdwy lived up to his 16th birthday here and got his political sense and his dislike of the landed gentry of his uncle, a lay preacher, taught. He was buried here, the stone of the tomb created as well as the local chapel Capel Moreia Sir Bertram Clough Williams -Ellis. Jonah Jones, Lloyd George's nephew and former Archdruid of Wales, wrote the poem that adorns the stone. In the resort, a Lloyd George Memorial consists Museum.

The well-known firm Cadwalader 's Ice Cream has its headquarters here. The local football club CPD Llanystumdwy FC plays in the Gwynedd League.
