Lloyd Gough

Lloyd Gough ( born September 21, 1907 in New York City, New York, † July 23, 1984 in Los Angeles, California ) was an American actor.

Life

Gough began his career in the theater. Between 1934 to 1948 he was engaged almost continuously on Broadway, then moved to Hollywood in order there to pursue a film career. Since 1942, he was married to actress Karen Morley. Until 1952, he played numerous film roles, including in all my sons, to tearing stretched and Sunset Boulevard. His career came to an abrupt end when he had to appear before the Committee on Un-American Activities during the McCarthy era, with his wife. Both denied the statement and were then put on the black list. As an immediate consequence of Gough's name was removed from the opening credits of Fritz Lang Westerns angel of the Haunted with Marlene Dietrich and Arthur Kennedy.

Gough joined the rest of the 1950s, again on Broadway, including 157 performances of Ondine at the side of Mel Ferrer and Audrey Hepburn, until he was able to return in 1960 after the end of the McCarthy era back to Hollywood. He now next feature film roles and television engagements and received a few guest roles in series such as The Fugitive and the role of the FBI reporter Michael Axford in the series Green Hornet with Bruce Lee. In 1976, he starred in the comedy The straw man besides numerous others of its time occupied with a prohibition actors like Zero Mostel and Herschel Bernardi.
