Lloyd Spooner

Lloyd Spooner ( born October 6, 1884 in Tacoma, † December 20, 1966 in Zephyrhills ) was an American sports shooter and four -time Olympic champion.

He participated in the Summer Olympics in Antwerp in 1920 in twelve contests and won four gold, one silver and two bronze medals there. Of his seven medals he won six in team competitions. Lying with his army rifle he won the bronze medal over 600 m.

To win eight medals at the same games for a long time was unsurpassed until Alexander Nikolayevich Dityatin won eight medals in gymnastics at the Summer Games in Moscow in 1980.

Spooner was a career officer in the United States Army and was promoted to captain in 1924.
