Lockhart is located in the south of the state in the area between the Murrumbidgee and Murray River about 310 km west of the Australian capital Canberra and 520 km southwest of the city of Sydney. The area includes 28 districts and towns: Bidgeemia, Birdlip, Brookong, Brookong North, Edge Hill, Fargunyah, French Park, Grubben, Kubura, Long Park, Milbrulong, Mundawaddra, Munyabla, Osborne, Pleasant Hills, Ryan, Tootool, Urangeline, Urangeline East, Woodend, Wrathall, Yerong Creek and parts of boree Creek, Bullenbong, Galore, Henty, Lockhart and The Rock. The seat of the Shire Council is located in Lockhart in the northwest of the LGA where about 840 inhabitants.

Management

The Lockhart Shire Council has nine members, who are elected by the residents of three wards (three Councillor of A, B and C. Ward). These three districts are set independently of the villages. From the circle of Councillor also the Mayor ( Mayor ) of the Council recruited.
