Loket (Benešov District)

Loket is a town in the Czech Republic. It is located 16 kilometers south-east of Vlašim on the D1 motorway and is part of the Okres Benešov.

Geography

The place is located in the headwaters of the creek in Loketský Unterkralowitzer basin on the northwest slope of the Bohemian- Moravian Highlands. Northeast extends the one with the drinking water reservoir Švihov flooded Želivkatal. On the eastern outskirts exit 66 Loket of D 1 / E 50 and E 65 is through Loket leads the state road 150 from Čechtice after Ledeč nad Vltavou, which crosses the lake on a 306 m long bridge between Brzotice and Bezděkov. History

The place was in the parish of Queen Swatawa and his name that corresponds to the Czech name for elbow, was derived from a sharp bend paths. The area flowed into the built of Swatawa a chapter on the Vyšehrad. For the first time in a document which belongs to the Kraloniczer benefices Loket was in 1352 in the certificate of ownership listed by Charles IV. Until 1418 Loket was administered by canons and in 1437 received the Knight Oldrich Močihub on Dolni Kralovice the place of Emperor Sigismund overwritten. 1550 was the Chapter of St. Vitus in Prague owner of the village. The Order of Malta in Horni Kralovice acquired Loket in 1571 and held the property until the abolition of patrimonial regimes in 1848.
