Career

Meyer studied in his native State at Iowa State University, where he played from 1991 for the high school team Cyclones in the former Big Eight Conference of the NCAA. In the nationwide NCAA finals in 1992 eliminated the Cyclones in the second and a year later in the first round. In his third NCAA season as "Junior", he was able to increase his personal stats to over 22 points and 9.5 rebounds per game before he had to stop in January 1994 after a car accident with a train for the remainder of the season. The Cyclones had previously lost teammate Chris Meyers Street by a fatal car accident a year and then missed participating in the NCAA finals. Meyer came to the following season back in the shirt number 40 was in memory of his fatally injured teammates, and could hang with just 16 points and nine rebounds per game still individually compelling statistics and missed again a "double- double" on average only scarce. In the NCAA finals in 1995, the Cyclones lost in the second round against the eventual " Final Four " participant Tar Heels of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

In NBA Draft 1995 Meyer was selected in the first round to 24th position from the Dallas Mavericks. In just under a third of the season games, he acted as a member of the starting lineup and came to an average of five points in just 18 minutes operating time per game. In December 1996, he was released in a " blockbuster trade" along with his teammate Tony Dumas and " All- Star" Jason Kidd for the experienced Sam Cassell, AC Green and the subsequent All-Star Michael Finley to the Phoenix Suns. After the end of the season Meyer underwent back surgery that made him expose the complete season 1997/98. The Suns dismissed him from his contract in the summer of 1998, and Meyer got again by the Denver Nuggets in January 1999 a new contract. At substantially reduced game parts it was used in another 14 games an average of five minutes per game until season's end. After him, the Nuggets had also released in the summer of 1999 from his contract, Meyer was initially not professionally active. For the 2000/ 01 season Meyer signed a contract then in the closed professional league British Basketball League (BBL ) at the Jets from Chester. In the sporty rather insignificant league the Jets won the League Cup BBL Trophy and coated with Meyer 's "Most Valuable Player " ( MVP ) of the regular season in the play-offs, where they in the quarterfinals of the Cup Winners' Cup and subsequent play-off title winners Leicester Riders were subject. Meyer then ended his active career as a professional basketball player.
