Loren Stillman

Loren Stillman ( born June 14, 1980 in London) is an American jazz musician ( saxophonist, composer and bandleader ), which is based in the post-bop.

Biography

Stillman grew up in Croton-on -Hudson (New York) and studied from 1998 at the Manhattan School of Music, and from 2002 at the New School University, including with Lee Konitz and David Liebman. It was the early 2000s through his work with John Abercrombie Trio Jackalope ( saltier Than Ever, 2002), known by Eivind Opsviks Overseas project and the formation quadrant with Christophe Schweizer. As early as 1996 he had recorded a first album (Cosmos ) at Soul Note, which earned him the status of a " child prodigy " (Cook / Morton ). Further albums followed for labels such as nail- Heyer, Fresh Sound (New Talent) and Steeple Chase with his own bands.

Stillman, whose talent was praised by Down Beat, Jazziz, Jazz Thing, Jazz Times and National Public Radio, has in the course of his career with Charlie Haden, Carla Bley, Paul Motian, Andy Milne 's Dapp Theory, Michele Rose Woman, Joe Lovano, Vic Juris, Sunna Gunnlaug and the Village Vanguard Jazz Orchestra worked.
