Lorenzo Perosi

Monsignor Lorenzo Perosi ( born December 21, 1872 in Tortona, Piedmont, † October 12, 1956 in Rome) was a Catholic priest and one of the most celebrated and prolific composers of sacred music in Italy. Life

From his youth to his great fame

In June 1888, at age fifteen, he went with his father on his first trip to Rome. On this occasion he offered to Pope Leo XIII. some of his compositions to. After studies at the conservatories of Rome and Milan, his father sent him the end of 1890 to the Abbey of Montecassino, where he earned his living as an organist, piano teacher and singing master and eager operational Choral Studies.
