Loro Boriçi

Loro Boriçi ( born August 10, 1922 in Shkodra, † April 28, 1984 in Tirana) was an Albanian football player and coach. He played on the position of midfielder.

Career

Loro Boriçi began his career in his hometown at KS Vllaznia Shkodra, where he played from 1937 bis 1941/42. For the season 1941/42, the Albanians moved to Lazio in the Italian Serie A. He played a total of two seasons and came up with 18 missions and 3 goals. After the 1942/43 season Boriçi returned to his hometown club back where he remained until 1948. He then moved to the capital to Partizani Tirana, where he ended his career in 1957.

From 1957 to 1976 Loro Boriçi national coach of Albania. He supervised the Albanian team in the European Championship qualifier Albania - Germany from 1967, which became known as the disgrace of Tirana in the German football history. In roughly the same period he was also coach of Partizani.

Today, the stadium of Shkodra, home of Vllaznia Shkoder, named after him.
