Los Angeles Film Critics Association

The Los Angeles Film Critics Association ( LAFCA ) was founded in 1975. Its main task is the annual ceremony of the Los Angeles Film Critics Association Awards to members of the ( local ) film industry who have done an excellent job in their profession. The prizes will be awarded each year in January. Since the LAFCA awards, together with the Golden Globe Awards, representing the first Award event every year, they are regarded as an important guide for the Academy Awards, which are distributed mostly in late February or early March.
