Los Llanos de Aridane

Los Llanos is one of the 14 municipalities of the Canary Island of La Palma. The municipality has over time developed into the most populous island and surpassed the capital Santa Cruz de La Palma in the 1990s. The administrative center of the municipality is located in the same place. Los Llanos is located on the west side of the island in the middle of the Aridane Valley. The village lies at an altitude of 325 meters above the sea level.

The part of the municipality of Puerto Naos is next to Los Cancajos one of the most important tourist centers of La Palma.

History

Los Llanos was founded in August 1812, and together with El Paso, Tazacorte and Argual the same community. On April 13, 1837 came from the Canary Islands Government 's proposal to El Paso and the surrounding area with Tacande an independent municipality of Los Llanos, with its own town hall, unite. A few months later, the project was realized and Los Llanos thus lost a considerable portion of his size. On September 16, 1925 during the reign of Primo de Rivera Tazacorte was also ausgemeindet of Los Llanos. At this time, Tazacorte with 2316 inhabitants the most populous municipality with the largest part of economic growth. Today, Los Llanos is the most important economic center in the west of the island.

Attractions

In the center of Los Llanos, the pedestrianized Calle Diaz Pimienta on Calle Réal (formerly Calle del General Franco) leads to the Plaza de España with three-nave parish church of Nuestra Señora de los Remedios from the 17th century and the town hall ( Ayuntamiento ) over. Botanical Park

  • El pequeño jardÃn botánico, Los Llanos. Small Botanical Garden in Los Llanos. Designed by Luis Morera. It is located a few minutes from the center of Los Llanos, from the Plaza espania southbound on the town sign Triana. The full name of the park is " El pequeño jardin del parque botánico Antonio Gómez Felipe ". The special feature of the park is that in an aesthetically impressive way bizarre shaped lava rocks are associated with predominantly endemic plants to optical units. The park is very small and uncrowded. From Luis Morera found on La Palma still more of it designed parks and plazas.
