Lost and Delirious

Lost and Delirious is a dramatic youth film by director Léa Pool from the year 2001. Starring Mischa Barton and Piper Perabo are seen.

Action

Mary, a young girl whose mother died three years ago, is sent by his father and stepmother in a girls' boarding school. She shares a room with Pauline (nicknamed Paulie ) and Victoria (nicknamed Tori ). Paulie and Tori are more than just good friends, they are in love. As Tori's younger sister caught the two in bed together, Tori fears its ultra-conservative parents. She ends her relationship with Paulie and interested in you boys turns to, to meet the normal conventions.

The rebellious Paulie can not cope with the loss. She falls more and more in desperation, partly because their unprecedented by her birth mother rejects the desired contact. She feels with a healthy maintained by their falcons one and falls from the roof of the school building.

Background

The plot is based on the novel Bad Girls ( The Wives of Bath, 1993) of the Canadian children's author Susan Swan. It is the first English-language film originating from Switzerland Canadian director Léa Pool. The film was shot in the Canadian province of Quebec from May 23 to July 8, 2000.

The TV title is Lost and delirious - Something About Love or Lost and Delirious - Charming beasts. The film was released in German on DVD and VHS.

Reviews

The lexicon of the International film describes the film as " enrichment offer the discerning youth film, which is quite unsentimental, though not free from clichés. " According to Duane Byrge ( in the Hollywood Reporter, February 2, 2001) stimulates the action for thought and invites you to pity.

Roger Ebert described in the Chicago Sun - Times of 13 July 2001 the film as inspiring and moving.

Awards (selection)

2001 won Léa Pool at the Stockholm International Film Festival Audience Award. Cinematographer Pierre Gill 2001 received an award at the Festival Internacional de Cine de Mar del Plata and in 2002 a Genie Award for best cinematography. The film was also awarded the Prix Jutra.
