Lost in Space

Lost between alien worlds ( original title: Lost in Space ) is an American science fiction television series of the late 1960s, which on the comic book series Space Family Robinson in 1962 and indirectly on the children's book The Swiss Robinson by Johann David Wyss based.

Action

In 1997, the Robinson family is selected, a break from the overpopulated earth in a space mission. Your task is to prepare a planet in the Alpha Centauri system for a settlement by humankind. As the spacecraft Jupiter II from a who traveled as a stowaway agents ( Dr. Zachary Smith) is sabotaged, the Robinsons find, however, initially on a completely different planet inhospitable deep in uncharted space again.

Now a random walk through space from one planet to the next begins. All attempts to feel at home on one of the planets found or Alpha Centauri will recover, however, thwarted by Dr. Smith again and again. Its only goal is to return to Earth.

Often, Dr. Smith and Will encapsulate from the rest of the team and take on monsters or aliens whose owner. Also come before time travel. With danger, Dr. Smith usually concealed behind the smaller Will. An important role is played by the nameless, talking robot crew, which is represented with a human face.

Each episode has its own storyline and new monsters. In the meantime, does not reach the crew or individual members several times in the near or even on the earth, but in the long run. Even in the last episode of the series, the crew remains in space.

Particularly striking are the extremely correct and theatrical debate and the actions Smiths.

Broadcast

1965-1968 were broadcast in the United States a total of three seasons, the first season was still filmed in black and white.

1992 sent the cable channel as German premiere 17 dubbed episodes. A year later, ProSieben repeated these 17 episodes, and in addition still showed 37 new, so all the color episodes were seen in Germany.

Reprints

In 2004, Fox Studios produced in collaboration with Synthesis a pilot of one of the series Lost In Space, which was first broadcast on April 9, 2004 on The WB edition. For The Robinsons: Lost in Space said film John Woo was hired as a producer, but the series has not been selected by The WB for the fall 2004 season.

The special effects were produced by the company Zoic, who are also responsible for various other television series, including Buffy, Firefly and the remake of Battlestar Galactica. The sets for the spacecraft, the Robinsons were later bought by Universal and used in a for Battlestar Galactica episode.

Brad Johnson played the role of John Robinson, Jayne Brook embodied Maureen Robinson. Mike Erwin ( Don West), Adrianne Palicki ( Judy Robinson) and Ryan Malgarini (Will Robinson) were other performers.

  • Lost in Space is a branch in the future version of the children's book The Swiss Robinson ( English title: Swiss Family Robinson) by Johann David Wyss, first edition 1812.

Comics

Gold Key

Already in December 1962 appeared the first issue of the comic book series Space Family Robinson, later: Lost In Space in the U.S. - Comics - Publisher Gold Key. The series includes the numbers 1 to 59 and ran intermittently until May 1982. Stories exist for the numbers 60 and 61, but not (yet) have not been published.

Individual stories entitled " Space Family Robinson " appeared in the U.S. comic book series "March Of Comics " Nos. 320, 328, 352, 404 and 414

As an astronaut family Robinson the series from December 1966 to February 1970 was published ( numbers 1-17) in BSV publisher in Germany. Artist was Dan Reflect.

From 1991 to 1994, the U.S. publisher published innovation publishing the series Lost In Space with new stories; following issues have been published:

Originally planned as a limited series for 12 issues, but it was adjusted to the sixth edition. Released from the No. 13 2 versions: Silver Logo Gold Logo Edition and sealed with poster.

Dark Horse

In Dark Horse Comics published from April to July 1998, a comic - Film - adaptation of the movie from 1998 in three editions with the same title Lost In Space. Later, a Trade Paperback (TPB ) appeared with these three comics.
