Lou Bega

Lou Bega ( born April 13, 1975 in Munich as David Lubega ) is a German - Latin pop singer.

Life and career

Bega Ugandan father and Italian mother were both came in the 1970s by Germany. As a teenager, he spent several years in Miami.

At 16, he published in 1991 under the pseudonym ART feat. Moe D. Cay Single I need you! on Virgin Records. The single was produced by Steve McKee, Norbert Kreuzer aka Lee York, Cole McTavish, James T. Deacon and Teddy C. Baker.

On his return to Munich he met his then manager " GOAR B. " ( Goar Biesenkamp ), " Zippy " ( Co-Autor/Komponist; Christian Pletschacher ) and the producers " Frank Lio " ( Achim Kleist ) and " D. Fact " ( Wolfgang von Webenau ) ( Syndicate Music Production ), with whom the idea for the song Mambo No.. 5 was formed. They availed themselves make it by adding lyrics to a young audience of an old instrumental hits with the idea. The single is a remake of a piece by Perez Prado in 1952, the Bega added text and a new chorus melody. At the time, however, not yet clear whether the song should be published at all.

Mambo No.. 5 was in the summer of 1999 at a worldwide hit. In Germany, he took eleven weeks # 1 on the singles charts and reached double platinum status. This was followed by placement at the top of the charts in over 20 countries, such as France, the Netherlands, the UK, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Finland, Norway and Sweden. In the U.S. Billboard Charts, the single peaked at # 3 Overall, the single sold over 8 million times. Also, the associated album A Little Bit of Mambo reached No. 1 in many countries and in the U.S. 3rd and triple platinum.

His second single, " I Got a Girl" reached the Top 20 in five countries of the charts. The third single, " Tricky Tricky " was ranked 18 of the Canadian and place 75 of the U.S. Billboard charts. There was number 11 in the French charts with the title "Mambo Mambo ".

Lou Bega's musical style is to blend musical elements from the 1940s and 1950s with modern grooves and sounds to a new unit. The German music award " ECHO " he received in 2000 into two categories, and was nominated five times. He was also nominated for the " Grammy " in Cannes and he was awarded the "World Music Award". Also in the Indian subcontinent makes the Lou Bega World Tour stop and gave a performance in Bombay, New Delhi, Madras, Bangalore and Kolkata. The more than 200 European concerts were followed by over 3,000,000 viewers. Even in Las Vegas, Tokyo, Moscow, Hong Kong and the United Arab Emirates had Lou Bega great live shows. International companies, princes and kings, including the king of Morocco booked Lou Bega and his live show for private or corporate events.

Lou Bega was a guest in American television shows and specials such as Jay Leno, Ally McBeal, Motown Live, Jenny Jones, Queen Latifah, and Access Hollywood. At Wetten, dass. ? Lou Bega has so far been the only artist who sang one song twice. New Year's Eve 2007 joined Lou Bega before 170,000 visitors in Poland.

The Walt Disney Company published with Lou Bega The Jungle Book as a computer game. For this he took on the title song and was seen in the video clip of the game. Lou Bega hosted the " American Music Awards ", " Grammy Awards ," " Billboard Radio Awards " and the " Love Parade" in Berlin.

On the album "Ladies and Gentlemen " is, among others, the duet " Baby Keep Smiling ", Lou Bega has recorded with the late Cuban artist Compay Segundo of Buena Vista Social Club.

In May 2010, he released his new album " Free Again " from which the singles " Boyfriend" and " Sweet Like Cola" were released.

Lou Bega has been working since 2002 to the present as a composer for the German dance project Groove Coverage, which sold over 5 million records worldwide. To date, he participated in more than 13 songs of the band. His most successful composition was God is a girl from the year 2002.

Currently lives Lou Bega at his home in Berlin -Zehlendorf.
