Lou Holtz

Louis Leo Holtz ( born January 6, 1937 in Follansbee, West Virginia) is an American professional American football coach. He coached one season in 1976, the New York Jets in the National Football League ( NFL).

Holtz played football at Kent State University, but he was especially successful as head coach of the college teams of " William & Mary " and by the North Carolina State University ( 1972-75 ). His most famous job Holtz had the team of the championship record of the University of Notre Dame, the Fighting Irish. In 1988, he was able to win the College Championship, until 1996, he worked at this college. After his resignation in 1996 Holtz worked as a TV commentator, but then returned in 1999 as coach of the South Carolina Gamecocks, the crew of the University of South Carolina for college football back. This team he coached until the end of 2004. Since 2005 he works as an analyst for television.
