Louis, Dauphin of France, Duke of Guyenne

Louis de Valois (* January 22, 1397 in Paris, † December 18, 1415 ibid ) was the third son of the French king Charles VI. and Queen Isabeau. It was in 1401, after his two older brothers, both named Charles, had died in 1396 or 1401, to the Dauphin of Viennois and thus appointed heir to the throne. At this time he was already Duke of Guyenne. In 1409 he was made 12 -year-old president of the Royal Council of State.

On August 31, 1412 he married Margaret of Burgundy in Paris ( 1393-1441/1442 ), a daughter of John the Fearless, Duke of Burgundy.

Louis died three years later, 18 years old and without offspring. Dauphin of Viennois and heir was his brother John, Duke of Touraine, who was poisoned 16 months later, and thus the youngest son of Charles VI. , The future Charles VII took place in his stead. Even with the death of the Dauphin Louis arrived in Paris on the rumor that this would have been poisoned. Bernard VII of Armagnac, who could now turn on and exercise with his troops in Paris, as he wanted, was blamed for the deed. 1418 this was crushed with his mercenaries of the fury.

Margarete married in 1423 the Duke Arthur III. of Brittany and was even appointed to the Duchess of Guyenne in the following year.
