Louis Günther I, Count of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt

Günther Ludwig Graf von Schwarzburg- Rudolstadt (* June 27, 1581 in Rudolstadt, † November 4, 1646 ibid ) was 1612-1646 reigning Count of Schwarzburg- Rudolstadt and Schwarzburg came from the house.

Life

Ludwig Günther was the son of Count Albrecht VII of Schwarzburg- Rudolstadt and his wife Juliane, born of Nassau- Dillenburg. Karl Albrecht Günther and Günther were his brothers. This ruled because of divisions as well as Ludwig Günther. The Count studied from 1598 in Jena and then moved to Strasbourg. There he was able to communicate with people in the highest circles. After a trip to Paris Ludwig Günther 1604 returned to Rudolstadt. On April 10, 1605 passed away the reigning Count Albrecht VII, and in an agreement dated June 24, 1605 to his brother Karl Günther was handed over to the government for six years. Ludwig Günther could now begin its travel activities again. 1606 the count went back to Strasbourg and then to Paris. 1607 was a short stay in Madrid, he returned to Paris. Now followed a trip to England, where London, Cambridge, Oxford and other objects have been visited. The travel activities lasted until 10 February 1610.

Ludwig Günther received under a contractual agreement of 8 September 1612 the division of property between the brothers the Frankenhäuser part with the residence Frankenhausen. Overall, the county was divided into three areas. Karl Günther was transferred to the part with the residence Rudolstadt Rudolstadt. His other brother Albert Günther received the Ilmischen part and resided in Stadtilm and Black Castle. On the same day Prince Ludwig I of Anhalt- Köthen was staying with his wife in Rudolstadt. The Count led reforms in education and donated, as usual at that time, several churches. In his will, he left his private book collection of the Rudolstädter church library, which he had some years earlier, also caused by a foundation to life.
