Love Hina

Love Hina (ラブ ひなJapanese ) is a completed manga series of the Japanese cartoonist Ken Akamatsu, who was also implemented as an anime series. She is assigned to the shōnen genre.


Love Hina is about Keitaro Urashima the boy, who at the University of Tokyo ( Tōkyō Daigaku, also briefly Tōdai or Tokyo -U) wants to study, but is just about to fall through the entrance exam for the third time.

Since it have thrown out at home his parents, he comes into the board Hinata Inn ( Ryokan Hinata ), which belonged to his grandmother. Here, however, live to Keitaros amazement only girls and young women. There, he meets Naru Narusegawa, a girl he has already seen in the entrance exams for Tōdai. He suspects that she was his sandbox love with which he was received as a child, a promise: Both are walking together on the Tōdai. However, this girl pulled away and he never saw it again.

Keitaro is in the Hinata Inn from his aunt as a property manager - said or better than " jack of all trades " - hired. As the only boy in a girls hostel, he is often teased and teased by the residents. Together with them lived through Keitaro some adventures, situations of ordinary life and so many state of emergency. He is the outsider becoming a part of the group.

In the course of the story slowly creates a relationship between Naru and Keitaro, who believes this is the girl from his childhood. But then appears a girl named Mutsumi Otohime, and it seems that it is the secret love of Keitaros childhood. Although the childhood promise for Keitaro is incredibly important, he realizes that his love to Naru is stronger. After all three have passed the test for the Tōdai, Naru and Keitaro are a pair, and get married in the last volume.



Love Hina was released in Japan in individual chapters in the manga magazine Shōnen Magazine of the Kodansha publishing house. These individual chapters were combined in 14 anthologies. The subject was Ken Akamatsu and Kurou Hazuki for a novel implementation as a light novel processed ( " Get lost, Keitaro " and " The Secret Source "). In addition, two special volumes "Band 0" and " ∞ tape " were published, which provide background information on the series.

A special section will appear on the publication of the 300th chapter of Ken Akamatsus new Magister Negi Magi series on 1 September 2010 in Shōnen Magazine.

In German, the manga series has been released except for the two special volumes in full by Egmont Manga and Anime (EMA ).

The anime Love Hina consists of 30 episodes including 2 specials: Christmas Special - Silent Eve (クリスマス スペシャル~サイレント·イヴ~ ) and Haru Special - Kimi Sakura chiru nakare! (春 スペシャル~キミ サクラ チ ルナ カレ! ~ ). Although the basic story remains the same in the anime, and begins with the arrival Keitaros in the center, but each episode is almost its own mini story that revolves around each with their own theme, such as friendship, courage, changes or love. These events from the manga to be processed, but also so-called " Anime Only" tells stories which do not occur in the manga, but only in the anime. In the last episode Naru and Keitaro are a couple ( this is not so clear narrow in the manga, actually first band 12).

A comprehensive three episodes OVA, entitled Love Hina Again (ラブ ひなAgain), which deals with the end of the series ( the plot of the manga starting with volume 11 ), was also animated by Xebec.

The series and the OVAs were (now Kazé ) completely released in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Poland of Anime Virtual on 9 DVDs. On 27 August 2007 a ​​re-release was performed in a total of three DVD boxes. The soundtrack is also available at Wasabi Records in Germany.



The manga was honored with the 2001 Kodansha Manga Award in the shōnen category.
