Lucian Marinescu

Lucian Cristian Marinescu (* June 24, 1972 in Bucharest ) is a former Romanian football player. He played a total of 121 games in the Romanian Divizia A, Spanish Primera Liga and the Portuguese Primeira Liga. As an international, he participated in the World Cup 1998.

Career

Association

The career of Marinescu began in 1993 at CSM Resita in Divizia B. In the 1994/95 season he was able to fight for a place in the team. After he had done with his team at the end of the season 1997/98, the rise in the Divizia A, it Erstligist Rapid Bucharest took them under contract. There he was able to achieve 13 goals and reached the runner-up behind Steaua Bucharest in the 1997/98 season. At the same time, he and his team into a Romanian Cup final and won his first title there.

After this success Marinescu joined UD Salamanca in the Spanish Primera División. In the 1998/99 season he was only ten missions and had to stay at the end of the season. He was then loaned for one season to Portugal for SC Farense. After his return to Salamanca, he spent two years playing in the Segunda División, before he re- joined in the summer of 2002 the neighboring country, where he took Movers Académica de Coimbra under contract. There he fought for two years against relegation and could provide at this time his goalscoring rarely demonstrated. In 2004, he joined the Liga de Honra to GD Chaves, had to descend with his new club after the season.

In summer 2005, Marinescu hired the Greek first division Akratitos Ano Liosia. Again, he finished the season on a relegation place. Marinescu returned to Romania and graduated in 2007 Petrolul Ploiesti in the Liga II. End of 2008, he finished his career.

National

Marinescu came eight times in the Romanian national team to use. He made his debut on 19 November 1997 in a friendly against Spain, when he came on in the 67th minute for Iulian Filipescu. He was also in the following two games to short sessions and was called to the squad for the 1998 World Cup in France by coach Anghel Iordănescu. There he came in all four games for use. As he came off the bench in three games in the middle of the second half, he played in the final group match against Tunisia on 90 minutes. The off in the second round against Croatia was also his last international game.
