Luciano Burti

Luciano Burti ( born March 5, 1975 in São Paulo) is a Brazilian automobile racing driver who was active in the meantime as a Formula 1 driver.

Career

He began his career in the British Formula 3 team at Stewart, which was represented in Formula 1.

After Burti was allowed to test the Formula 1 cars of Stewart, he got a cockpit as a test driver for Jaguar Racing, the successor team of Stewart, for the season 2000. Surprisingly gave Burti his debut on 16 July 2000 at the Grand Prix of Austria when regular driver Eddie Irvine could not compete due to illness.

Through his compelling performance test he got a regular place in 2001, after Johnny Herbert finished his career. However, he was replaced after four races by the ex - Arrows- driver Pedro de la Rosa.

But he immediately found a place in the Prost team, in which the hapless Gastón Mazzacane was dismissed. Finally, for Prost he could achieve his best result an eighth place at the Grand Prix of Canada, which he, however, due to the former distribution of points, earned no championship point. After the Belgian Grand Prix, he had unexpectedly early end to the season, when he crashed into the tire wall after an accident with Eddie Irvine and was injured. He was replaced by the Czechs Tomáš Enge.

In it, follow year he signed a contract test for Ferrari, which expired in 2004 and was not renewed.

Today he uses in his native Brazil in the Stock Car Brasil series.
