Ludwig Laqueur

Ludwig Laqueur (also: Louis Laqueur; * July 7, 1839 in Festenberg, Silesia, † April 20, 1909 in Santa Margherita Ligure ) was a German ophthalmologist.

Laqueur studied in Breslau and Berlin, where he received his doctorate in 1860 for Dr. med. In 1872 he became an associate professor at the University of Strasbourg. From 1877 he was professor of ophthalmology there.

Laqueur was married to Marie Bamberger (1851-1936), daughter of the banker Rudolph Bamberger. Among their common children belonged to the physicians August Laqueur (1875-1954) and the historian Richard Laqueur ( 1881-1959 ).
