Ludwig von Buhl

Ludwig von Buhl ( born January 4, 1816 in Munich, † 30 July 1880 in Ebenshausen in Munich) was a German physician and university teacher.

Life

From Buhl studied medicine in Munich and Vienna, in 1839 a doctorate and habilitation in 1846 as a lecturer in physical diagnosis, pathological anatomy and microscopy. Together with Carl Thiersch, he led a pathological- anatomical demonstrations; at the same time he gave percussion courses for students.

In 1859 he became a full professor of general pathology and pathological anatomy at the University of Munich, 1875 also director of the pathological institute.

Buhl has researched and published on cholera, described the acute miliary tuberculosis as absorption and infectious disease, delivered papers on the water content of the brain in typhoid fever, about Kapillarektasie the lungs, via the Faserstoffexsudat, contributions to the etiology of typhoid fever, the constant presence of a fungus discovered in diphtheria. In his first post in which was founded by Max von Pettenkofer and Carl von Voit "Journal of Biology " he pointed out in the essay "On the etiology of typhoid fever " on the relationship of the occurrence time of the typhus to groundwater level in Munich.
