Lugano–Ponte Tresa railway

The Lugano - Ponte Tresa Railway, abbreviated FLP, Italian railway Lugano - Ponte Tresa, officially Ferrovie Lugano is a narrow-gauge private railway in the Swiss canton of Ticino. The June 5, opened in 1912 under the name Soscietà Ferrovie Lugano (FL ) Railway runs from Lugano to Ponte Tresa. Since the timetable change on December 9, 2007 the trains run every 15 minutes during the day, on weekends and public holidays every 30 minutes. The circuit is integrated as line S60 in the network of S -Bahn Ticino.

Once there were in the region of Lugano four narrow gauge rail services. In addition to the FLP, these were the Lugano Cadro Dino Train ( LCD), the Lugano - Tesserete train ( LT), the tram and Lugano. Except for the FLP all operations have been discontinued and replaced by bus.

Railway line

The FLP Lugano train station is located approximately 50 meters from the railway station in a cutting. In two short tunnel, the Gotthard line of the SBB and the western parts of the city of Lugano are crossed. After Sorengo stop the route leads along the south bank of the Laghetto di Muzzano. West of the Cappella d' Agnuzzo the path runs parallel to the A2 motorway to Bioggio Molinazzo. She drives around in a wide arc to Lugano-Agno airport. About Bioggio and Agno ( where the vault is located ), the train reached the western branch of Lake Lugano. Between Magliaso Caslano and a golf course is traversed. The route ends in Ponte Tresa, near the Italian border.
