Luke Steele (footballer)
Luke Steele (* September 24 1984 in Peterborough ) is an English footballer. The goalkeeper is currently at FC Barnsley under contract.
Career
Steele made his professional debut on 13 March 2002 for Peterborough United in the Football League Second Division. On 8 June 2002, he moved to Manchester United for £ 500,000, came first but in the youth and reserve team to use and won the 2003 FA Youth Cup. In the 2004/05 season he was loaned to Coventry City, a process that was repeated during the 2006/07 season.
In 2005 he returned to Old Trafford and was after the departure of Ricardo and Roy Carroll behind Edwin van der Sar and Tim Howard, the third goalkeeper of the club. For the season 2006/ 07 Steele was awarded in early August again at Coventry, but changed on 10 August West Bromwich Albion, which he left Coventry immediately again. In December 2006, he was again awarded until the end of the season at Coventry, where he came to some missions.
In December 2007 he came to his first competitive match inserts in the first team of West Bromwich. In February 2008, he was loaned for one month from Barnsley FC in a blitz just before the second-round match in the FA Cup 2007 /08 against Liverpool. Reason for the loan was the suffered injury in January of goalkeeper Heinz Mueller, who turned out for the rest of the season. Then Tony Warner was hired as a replacement from Fulham, but because Warner was this season for Fulham in the FA Cup in action, he was not eligible to play there for Barnsley.
Just two days after the change he was at Anfield in goal for the Tykes and helped with its parades the club to a surprising 2-1 victory over the big favorites from Liverpool. Steele was chosen by the viewers for FA Cup Player of the Round due to its performance. Even when unexpected quarter-final success against Chelsea Steele stood in the gate of Barnsley and remained against the defending champion from London without conceding a goal. The Off in Cup followed in the semifinals before over 82,000 spectators at Wembley after a 0-1 defeat against Cardiff City. After the season he was firmly committed to Barnsley for the season 2008/ 09.
