Lunascape

Lunascape is a web browser that from the Tokyo-based company Lunascape KK (English Lunascape Corporation) is developed.

The program is distinguished in that it uses the three most popular HTML rendering engines Gecko (Mozilla Firefox), WebKit (Safari and Google Chrome ), and Trident ( Internet Explorer). Lunascape is the first browser that uses more than two engines. The user can switch seamlessly surfing between the individual engines, also can be the engine for each open in a browser tab set separately. Similarly, one can firmly assign each page a particular engine. Each open tab runs in its own process. Furthermore, the browser supports skins, mouse gestures, plug- ins and add -ons. Lunascape can also use the Firefox or Internet Explorer in addition to their own add-ons.

History

In 2001, the first version of Hidekazu Kondō (近藤 秀 和, Kondō Hidekazu ) was published. Since version 2.0 in 2004 both Trident and Gecko are supported as rendering engine, since version 5, which was released in January 2009, and WebKit. With version 5 was also an internationalization of Lunascape, which was previously only available in Japanese. As of version 6.2 it is possible to replace the bundled with Lunascape Gecko engine by another.

Lunascape is based on Qt and requires Internet Explorer from version 6 since Version 6, Lunascape 12 languages ​​completely (as of April 2011) and 17 more are partially supported.
