Lycium andersonii

Lycium andersonii is a species of the genus Bock mandrels ( Lycium ) in the nightshade family (Solanaceae ).

Description

Lycium andersonii is a 0.5 to 3 m tall, densely branched, occupied with spines shrub. Its leaves are succulent, glabrous or densely covered with short trichomes. Their length is 3 to 35 mm, its width is 1 to 8 mm.

The flowers are hermaphroditic, four or fünfzählig and ovate. The calyx is cup-shaped, glabrous or densely covered with short trichomes and about 1.5 to 3 mm long. The length of the sepals corresponds to about 1 /4 of the length of the calyx tube. The crown is colored white to pale purple, the length of the corolla tube is 4 to 16 mm, the accreting it Kronlappen are 1.5 to 2 mm long. The stamens are hairy at the base glabrous or sparsely.

The fruit is an ovoid to elliptical, red or orange - red berry with a length of 3 to 9 mm. It comprises a plurality of seeds.

Occurrence

The species is widespread in North America and is present there in the Mexican states of Baja California, Baja California Sur, Sinaloa and Sonora, as well as in the U.S. states of Arizona, California, Nevada and Utah.

Outer systematics

Within the goat spines ( Lycium ) the species is according to phylogenetic studies in a clade grouped with other North and South American species of the genus. The species is closely related americanum with Lycium, Lycium infaustum, Lycium exsertum, Lycium fremontii, Lycium parishii, Lycium texanum, Lycium torreyi, Lycium berlandieri, Lycium elongatum, Lycium athium and Lycium minimum.
