Mackenröder Spitze

The Mack Röder peak is above sea level with approximately 427.5 m. NN is the highest mountain of the Göttingen Forest, on the border between the city and district of Göttingen, in southern Lower Saxony ( Germany ).

Geography

The heavily forested mountain is located on the eastern escarpment ( Escarpment ) of the Göttingen Forest, a southern part of the Leinebergland, about 8 km east of the city center of Göttingen and less than 1 km north-west of Mackenrode, a southwestern district of the municipality Landolfshausen. From Göttingen (neighborhoods Herberhausen, Oststadt or Geismar ) from the Mack Röder tip can be hiked at a leisurely rise. From Mackenrode or Waake the mountain via a short steep climb is reached.

Lookout tower resin views

Nearly 400 meters north of Mack Röder tip or about 1.6 km north- west of Mackenrode stands at around 425 m height of the observation tower overlooking resin. Previously, the tower stood together with forest restaurant right on the Mack Röder peak, due to the establishment of a military base, he had to be relocated in the 1970s to its current location.

From its observation deck one can perceive good distance vision options: So you look to the north- east to the resin in which the chunk can be seen east to Untereichsfeld with the Seeburger See, southeast to Ohmgebirge, head south past the likes of Hohe Meissner, southwest to Kaufunger Forest, West southwest to Gaußturm on the Hohenhagen in Dransfelder urban forest and to the northwest to the Solling.
