Waake

Waake is a municipality of the velvet municipality in the district of Göttingen Radolfshausen Lower Saxony (Germany ) with one of the few remaining, once typical of the region Tieplätze.

Waake extending to 7.9 km ², has a total of 1372 inhabitants, of whom 968 in Waake and 404 in the district Bösinghausen.

Geography

Waake is approximately 9 km east-northeast of Göttingen in the northeast part of the Göttingen Forest. Through the community of the creek floodplain, a western tributary of the wallow flows. It is crossed by a section of the B 27, which connects in west-east direction Göttingen and Ebergötzen.

History

Waake 1013 was first documented as a Country Estate of Marie monastery at Hildesheim.

In the 12th century it was part of the Duchy of Saxony, later it was transferred to the Duchy of Brunswick -Lüneburg.
