The Macquarie River is a river in the northeast of the Australian state of Tasmania.

The river rises on the eastern slopes of the Hobgoblin, a mountain southwest of Lake Leake, about 85 km south-east of Launceston. From there, it flows first south and then in an arc over the west to the north-northwest around Mount Connection around. In the small town of Ross, he crosses the Midland Highway ( A1), he also claimed north-northwest flows almost parallel to Cressy. He turns to the north and ends at Longford in the South Esk River.
