Macworld - iWorld

The Macworld | iWorld (until 2011: Macworld Conference & Expo) is an American fair, which is organized by IDG. It takes place annually in January or February in San Francisco instead, and was often used by Apple for the launch of new products. In 2009, Apple announced that they would no longer participate in the future of the show.

Under the same name fairs were organized in New York City, Boston and Tokyo, but were adjusted since then.

History

The first Macworld was organized in 1985 and named after the 1984 featured Macintosh.

1997

Steve Jobs announced a collaboration between Microsoft and the ailing company Apple. Bill Gates is joined by video conference, which will be answered by the audience with whistles and catcalls.

1998

Presentation of the first iMac.

1999

2000

Presentation of Mac OS X 10.0 and the new surface Aqua

2003

Presentation of the web browser Safari.

2005

Jobs demonstrated some new features of Mac OS X Tiger. In addition, new versions of Final Cut Pro, iLife, and iWork, as well as the new Mac mini were presented and the new iPod shuffle.

2006

There were '06 (new iWeb ) presented and iWork '06 iLife.

New versions of professional tools Final Cut Pro, Aperture and Logic have been announced. It was underlined that these new programs were already available as universal binaries, that is, on both PowerPC - and Intel -based Macs (x86 processor) running natively.

Paul Otellini, CEO of Intel, gave Jobs a symbolic wafer to show that the work was completed at the transition to Intel processors. Then the first Intel -based Macs, the iMac and the MacBook Pro with Core Duo processors were introduced.

2007

Steve Jobs first demonstrated the set- top box Apple TV, which was already presented under the code name iTV on a " Special Event " in September 2006.

In the second part of the keynote Jobs unveiled the iPhone to a global audience.

2008

The keynote for 2008 was held on January 15. Steve Jobs presented the Time Capsule, which is to simplify data backup using Time Machine. Then Jobs introduced the new iPod and iPhone firmware version 1.1.3. Following accepted the iTunes Store movie rentals and a new MacBook Air

Microsoft announced at the show on the launch of Microsoft Office 2008 for Mac.

2009

Apple announced that they will participate for the last time at Macworld 2009. The keynote was not held by Steve Jobs, but by Phil Schiller. There are iLife and iWork '09, and introduced a new 17 "MacBook Pro.

2012

In 2012, the conference " Macworld | iWorld " has been renamed. IDG announced that also the cultural influence of costs incurred on Apple devices multimedia content to be shown through concerts, film premieres and art exhibitions.
