Madrid–Valladolid high-speed rail line

The high-speed line Madrid- Valladolid is a Spanish, standard gauge railway high-speed line. It connects to a length of 180 km, the capital Madrid with the north-west provincial capital Valladolid.

With the opening of around 4.5 billion euros expensive route shortens the travel time, with a stop in Segovia, more than two and a half hours to 56 minutes. The track length was reduced in comparison to the twisty Altstrecke by 69 km. The track top speed of 350 km / h, which is but for the time being operationally not exploited.

The Sierra de Guadarrama is in the 28.4 km long Guadarrama Tunnel, the longest tunnel of Spain, passes under.

North of the planned 163 km long high-speed line Venta de Baños - Valladolid - Palencia and León connects.

History

The route was opened by Spain's Prime Minister José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, on 22 December 2007.

It is to be further extended in future in the north of Spain.

Operation

The trunk is used since end of December 2007 daily from eight Alvia - pairs of trains ( RENFE series 130 S 250 km / h) and five pairs of trains AVE (AVE S - 102, 300 km / h). The umspurbaren Alvia trains run over Valladolid addition, the broad gauge existing network further north.

For normal operation, the track platform tracks were 16 umgespurt to 21 in Madrid- Chamartín train station, the track 15 is prepared for it. Prior to commissioning, the standard gauge tunnel connection they end up under the bridge reception building.
