Maggie Rizer

Maggie Rizer ( born January 9, 1978 Margaret Mary Rizer in Watertown, New York) is an American supermodel, actress and AIDS activist.

Life and career

She grew up with three siblings in Watertown on the north of the U.S. state of New York. At 17, she began working as a model after her mother had sent pictures to a New York modeling agency. In 1997 she had her international breakthrough as Steven Meisel, she discovered and photographed for Italian VOGUE.

After Steven Meisel 's discovery was Rizer long time as one of the few supermodels. Some magazines, worked for the Rizer, are Vogue, Harper 's Bazaar, Elle, Marie Claire and Cosmopolitan. She had ad campaigns for brands such as Prada, Calvin Klein, Oscar de la Renta, Max Mara, Chanel, Fendi, Tommy Hilfiger and Versace.

When she learned in 2003 that her step- father, an insurance salesman, who was responsible for its financial planning, had almost lost their entire fortune in gambling and had also paid no taxes on their income, she retired for several years from the public. In 2008, she again stood as a model and jury member of a styling show in front of the camera.

Rizer was fourteen when her openly gay father died of complications from AIDS. Since then, she strives to general education about HIV.

She is married and the mother of two sons.
