Magnezitovce

Magnezitovce is a town in central Slovakia with a population of 460 (as at 31 December 2011), which belongs to Okres Revúca, a circle of Banskobystrický kraj and is located in the traditional landscape Gemer.

Geography

The municipality is located in the south-eastern part of the Slovak Ore Mountains in the valley of the river Muráň, in a side valley below the hill Ostry vrch (870 m nm). Southeast of Mníšany are magnesite. The center is located at an altitude of 353 m nm and is six kilometers from Jelšava, and 12 kilometers from Revúca.

Administratively divided the community into the church and parts Kopras Mníšany.

Neighboring municipalities are Čierna Lehota and Slavošovce in the north, Rochovce in the northeast, Jelšava the east and south and Chyžné in the West.

History

Today's church was built in 1960 by the merger of places Kopras (Hungarian Korpás - to 1907 Kopras ) and Mníšany (Hungarian Baráttelke - to 1907 Mnisány ).

Mníšany was first mentioned in 1427 as Monorethe in writing, at the time was a monastery and had in the same year 20 Porta. Most of the inhabitants at that time were engaged in gold, silver and copper mines. In the 15th century the town was settled in the framework of the Wallachian colonization continued in the 16th century and belonged to the manor of Castle Muráň. 1828 were counted 43 houses and 402 inhabitants, who were employed in agriculture, mining (magnesite ), and as workers in the surrounding businesses.

Kopras arose at the beginning of the 16th century Wallachian law and was first mentioned in writing in 1551. The village belonged to the manor of Castle Muráň. 1828 were counted 26 houses and 186 inhabitants, who were employed in forestry, charcoal burning and sheep farming.

Until 1918, the places lying in the county Gemer and small Hont belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and came after Czechoslovakia or Slovakia today. During the first Slovak Republic, the inhabitants of both places on the construction of the railway Chyžnianská Voda - Slavošovce worked (part of Gemerer connecting tracks ), which should cut valleys connect with the rest of Slovakia after the First Vienna Award. This project was never completed.

Today, the economic life is largely determined by the Magnesitbergwerk and the adjacent Magnesitfabrik in Jelšava.

Population

According to the 2011 census lived in Magnezitovce 464 inhabitants, of whom 459 Slovaks and each one Roma and Czech. Three residents did not know. 119 inhabitants belonged to the Jehovah's Evangelical Church AB, 82 inhabitants to the Roman Catholic Church, six inhabitants to the Reformed Church, five inhabitants to the Greek Catholic Church, three residents of United Methodist Church and a resident of the witnesses. 218 inhabitants were non-denominational and 30 inhabitants, the denomination has not been determined.
