Mailleroncourt- Charette is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Mailleroncourt- Charette is located at an altitude of 250 m above sea level, 4 km north-northwest of Saulx and about 14 km north- northeast of the town of Vesoul (air line). The village is located in the central part of the department, in the north of the basin of Saulx, at the mouth of Ruisseau de Meurcourt in the Durgeon, south of the heights of Mont Vaulot.

The area of ​​10.60 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the pelvic region of Saulx. From east to west, the area is crossed by the Talniederung of Durgeon. The river valley is first cut into the surrounding plateau before it widens at Mailleroncourt- Charette. Here the Alluvialniederung is on average 245 m and has a maximum width of one kilometer. From the north, the Durgeon takes in the municipality three side streams, whose valleys are also sunk deep into the environment: Ruisseau de la Cude, Ruisseau d' Origer and Ruisseau de Meurcourt. They are dammed at several locations to ponds.

Southeast of the village is the plateau of Les Raichaines with the Point du Jour (312 m). Agricultural land use predominates here. To the north, the municipality's area extends on the densely wooded hills of Bois Narbot, Junot Bois and Bois des Landres. With 360 m Narbot is achieved the highest elevation of Mailleroncourt- Charette in the Bois. In geological- tectonic terms, the terrain consists of an alternation of sandy- marly and calcareous sediments that were deposited during the Lias ( Lower Jurassic ). In some places, is also evident sandstone and limestone from the Triassic.

At Mailleroncourt- Charette addition to the actual site include the following hamlet settlements:

  • La Goutte (280 m) on the eastern slope of the valley of the Durgeon
  • Les Landres (319 m ) at the level of the north Durgeon Valley

Neighboring communities of Mailleroncourt- Charette are Meurcourt, Villers- lès- Luxeuil and Visoncourt in the north, Servigney in the east, Saulx in the south and La Villeneuve- Bellenoye -et -la -maize in the west.

History

Through the municipal area led the Roman Road from Besancon to Luxeuil. Is first mentioned in the year Mailleroncourt 1292nd In the Middle Ages the village belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in the territory of the Bailliage d' amont. The local government had the noble family Charette held that expired at the beginning of the 16th century. To avoid confusion with the municipality Mailleroncourt -Saint- Pancras, the family name was appended to the city name. Together with the Franche -Comté came Mailleroncourt- Charette with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. Today Mailleroncourt- Charette is a member of the 17 localities comprehensive community association Communauté de communes du Pays de Saulx.

Attractions

The village church of Mailleroncourt- Charette was rebuilt in 1909 and houses a painted statue of the Madonna from the 15th century and other statues from the 17th century. In the valley of Ruisseau d' Origer is the chapel of Saint -Léger, originally dates from the 7th century, but was rebuilt in the 19th century. Additional attractions include a wayside cross from the 17th century, restored in the 18th century seat of power at the height west of the village and a fountain with a gazebo ( 19th century).

Population

With 305 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) Mailleroncourt- Charette is one of the small towns in the Haute- Saône. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1881 660 people were still counted ), only relatively small fluctuations were recorded since the early 1970s.

Economy and infrastructure

Mailleroncourt- Charette was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) and forestry embossed village. The water power of the streams was formerly used for the operation of several mills. Today, there are some establishments of local small businesses. In recent decades the village has been transformed into a residential community. Many workers are therefore commuters who do their work in the larger towns in the area and in the agglomeration Vesoul.

The village is situated away from the larger passage axes on a secondary road that leads from Saulx after Conflans -sur- Lanterne. Further road links exist with La Villeneuve, Vilory, Villers- lès- Luxeuil and Servigney.
