Visoncourt

Visoncourt is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Visoncourt situated at an altitude of 278 m above sea level, 8 km southwest of Luxeuil -les- Bains and about 19 km northeast of the town of Vesoul (air line). The village is located in the northern part of the department, in an alcove on the southwest edge of the plain of Luxeuil and Talniederung the Lanterne, at the foot of the heights of the Bois de la Grande Brosse.

The area of ​​4.52 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the rolling countryside of the south of the Lanterne. The central part of the area occupied by the Talnische of Visoncourt. It is on average 265 m and has a width of approximately one kilometer. Agricultural land use predominates here. The area is drained by the Ruisseau de la Mouroie north to the Lanterne.

The Talnische is flanked by wooded hills to the south by Ban, in the southwest of Millery and to the west of the Bois de la Grande Brosse. They consist of sandy- marly and calcareous sediments that were deposited during the Lias ( Lower Jurassic ). At different locations is also evident limestone of the Middle Triassic. With 395 meters, the highest elevation of Visoncourt is achieved in the Bois de la Grande Brosse. Further west, the municipality's area covers the headwaters of the Durgeon.

Neighboring communities of Visoncourt are Éhuns in the north, and Baudoncourt Brotte -lès- Luxeuil in the east, and Servigney Mailleroncourt- Charette in the south and Villers- lès- Luxeuil in the West.

History

The area around Visoncourt was inhabited in prehistoric times. From the Gallo- Roman period, numerous vestiges, especially wall foundations (Camp de César ) and the remains of baths equipment at two thermal springs were discovered. In the Middle Ages Visoncourt belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in the territory of the Bailliage d' amont. The local government has held the monastery of Luxeuil. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the village with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. Today Visoncourt is a member of the 17 localities comprehensive community association Communauté de communes du Pays de Saulx.

Population

With 34 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) Visoncourt one of the smallest municipalities in the department of Haute- Saône. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1881 170 people were still counted ), only small fluctuations were recorded since the mid- 1970s.

Economy and infrastructure

Visoncourt is still a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) and forestry embossed village. Outside of the primary sector, there are few jobs in town. Some employed persons are therefore commuters who engage in the larger towns in the vicinity of their work.

The village is situated away from the larger passage axes. The main access is from the main road N57, which runs from Luxeuil -les- Bains to Vesoul. Another road connection with Éhuns.
