Baudoncourt

Baudoncourt is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Baudoncourt situated at an altitude of 263 m above sea level, 5 km south-west of Luxeuil -les- Bains and about 22 km northeast of the town of Vesoul (air line). The village is located in the northern part of the department, in the plane of Luxeuil west of the Vosges, on both sides of the lantern.

The area of ​​7.57 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the level of Luxeuil. From east to west, the area is drained by the Lanterne, which draws several turns. The alluvial plain is on average 260 m and is used mainly for agricultural purposes. Northwest of the village there are three ponds. To the south, the municipality's area extends up to the hills of the Côte Saint -André. With 294 m find the highest mountains of Baudoncourt is achieved. It is constructed from limestone of the Middle Triassic. The western boundary runs in the valley of the Ruisseau de la Mouroie, a left tributary of the Lanterne. Baudoncourt is home to a colony of herons.

To Baudoncourt the settlement Les Varennes part (264 m) south of the Lanterne. Neighboring communities of Baudoncourt are Breuches and Saint- Sauveur in the north, La Chapelle- lès- Luxeuil in the east, Brotte -lès- Luxeuil and Visoncourt in the south and Éhuns in the West.

History

The area around Baudoncourt was already inhabited in prehistoric times. Here are three Gallo-Roman grave steles were discovered, which were incorporated in the façade of a house. From the settlement in the Burgundian period generates a burial ground. Is mentioned in a document Baudoncourt in the 9th century. In the Middle Ages the village belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in the territory of the Bailliage d' amont. The local government had initially served as the monastery of Luxeuil and since the end of the 13th century, the lords of Faucogney. Together with the Franche -Comté Baudoncourt came with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. The former château of the abbots of Luxeuil was demolished in 1704. Today Baudoncourt is a member of the comprehensive 13 villages municipal association Communauté de communes du Pays de Luxeuil.

Attractions

The village church of Baudoncourt was rebuilt in the 18th century and remodeled in the 19th century. From the former castle are only a few remnants still visible. The large covered Lavoir was built in 1880 and formerly served as laundry and watering cattle.

Population

With 542 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) Baudoncourt one of the smaller towns in the Haute- Saône. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1886 821 persons were still counted ), only small fluctuations were recorded since the mid- 1970s.

Economy and infrastructure

Baudoncourt has long been a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) and forestry embossed village. Today, there are some establishments of local small businesses, especially in the sectors of textiles, furniture and ironwork. In recent decades the village has been transformed into a residential community. Many workers are therefore commuters who engage in the larger towns in the vicinity of their work. A large part of the runway of the air base facilities Aerodrome de Luxeuil -Saint -Sauveur is located in the municipality of Baudoncourt.

The village has good transport links. It lies on the main road N57, which runs from Luxeuil -les- Bains to Vesoul. Further road links exist with La Chapelle- lès- Luxeuil, Éhuns and Breuches.
