Mallacoota, Victoria

Mallacoota is an Australian coastal town in Victoria near the border with New South Wales, he is part of the local government area (LGA ) East Gippsland Shire. Country side surrounding the place of Croajingolong National Park.

History

Prehistoric, the area was the territory Bidawal, a tribe of Aborigines. The first modern settlements date back to around 1830, a small lighthouse on Gabo Iceland was built 1854 in wood construction. The still existing steinernde lighthouse was completed in 1862. With the advent of commercial fishing in 1880, tourism held in place feeder.

Economy

Today's most important economic activities are tourism and the abalone (also called abalone shells or iris ) industry.
