The Malmö Arena (after the district Hyllievång also Hyllie Arena ) is a multi-purpose arena in Malmo, Sweden.

History and use

Construction began on 10 January 2007, was opened the Malmö Arena finally on November 6, 2008. Primary users of the arena are the Malmö Redhawks in the second highest Swedish hockey league HockeyAllsvenskan who moved from Malmö Isstadion in the new arena. In ice hockey games and other sporting events, the capacity of the stadium is 12,500 spectators, find concerts to 15,500 visitors in the indoor court.

The hall was the venue for the finals of the Men's Handball World Championship 2011. The finals of the Svenska Superligan 2010/11, the Swedish Floorball Championships, were held on 16 April 2011 for the first time in the Malmö Arena.

But for many concerts, the hall was a venue, such as the concert of Britney Spears, Femme Fatale as part of their tour on October 11, 2011.

In addition, since 2009, the Semi-Finals of Melodifestivalen, the Swedish preselection for the Euro Vision Song Contest, held in this arena. In May 2013 was the Malmö Arena venue for the Euro Vision Song Contest 2013. Malmö had prevailed, mainly due to the well-developed infrastructure against regarded as too big and too expensive for Friends Arena in Solna, Stockholm.
