Malvoideae is a subfamily within the family of plants (Malvaceae ). The varieties of some species are used as ornamental plants.

Description

There are mostly woody plants. The simple leaves have serrated or smooth leaf margins.

In many species a by- cup is available. The five petals have a double perianth. In the subfamily Malvoideae the many stamens are fused into a tube surrounding the stamp.

System

The subfamily of Malvoideae in 1835 erected by Gilbert Thomas Burnett in Outlines of Botany, p 816, 1094, 1118 under the name " Malvidae ".

The subfamily contains about 78 species of Malvoideae with about 1670 species. The most species-rich genus within this subfamily, with about 550 species Hibiscus (Hibiscus ). The subfamily Malvoideae is divided into four tribes; two other genera are not assigned to any tribes:

  • Tribus Malveae J.Presl: It contains about 69 genera: Abutilon Mill: With approximately 100-160 species; many species are mentioned Schönmalven, known types are velvetleaf and room maple
  • Acaulimalva Krapov. The approximately 19 species thrive in the Andes.
  • Akrosida Fryxell & Fuertes: Of the two types is a front in Brazil and the other only in the Dominican Republic.
  • Hollyhocks ( Alcea L.): The approximately 50 species are distributed from the Mediterranean to Central Asia.
  • Allosidastrum ( Hochr. ) Krapov. et al.: The approximately four species are widespread in the Neotropics.
  • Allowissadula DMBates: With about nine species found in Texas and Mexico
  • Marshmallow ( Althaea L.): The approximately twelve species are widespread in Eurasia.
  • Andeimalva Jatate: The approximately four species thrive in the Andes.
  • Scheinmalven ( Anisodontea C.Presl ): With about 19 species found in South Africa
  • Anoda Cav. , The ten species are widespread in the Neotropics.
  • Asterotrichion Klotzsch: it contains only one type: Asterotrichion discolor ( Hook. ) Melville: home is Tasmania.
  • Billieturnera helleri (Rose) Fryxell: Their range extends from southeastern Texas to northeastern Mexico
  • Calyculogygas uruguayensis Krapov. Homeland Uruguay
  • Calyptraemalva catharinensis Krapov. Homeland is the Brazilian State of Santa Catarina
  • Fryxellia pygmaea ( Correll ) D. M. Bates, which is found in southwestern North America
  • Kitaibela vitifolia Willd. It occurs only on the Balkan Peninsula.
  • Kitaibela balansae Boiss. It occurs in Western Asia.
  • Lavatera trimestris L.
  • Tree -shaped Tree Mallow ( Lavatera arborea L.)
  • Malope anatolica Huber- Morath: It occurs only in Asia Minor.
  • Malope malacoides L.: It comes with six subspecies in the Mediterranean area.
  • Malope rhodoleuca Maire: It occurs only in Morocco.
  • Malope trifida Cav. It occurs only in the Mediterranean region.
  • Malvella sherardiana (L.) Jaub. & Spach
  • Modiola caroliniana (L.) G.Don: You originally native to the New World and in many countries such as Spain and Portugal, a neophyte.
  • Napaea dioica L., which occurs in the U.S.
  • Neobaclea crispifolia ( Cav. ) Krapov. Homeland is Patagonia
  • Neobrittonia acerifolia ( G.Don ) Hochr. , Which occurs in Mexico
  • Sphaeralcea procera Ced.Porter
  • Tribus Gossypieae: It contains nine or ten genera: Alyogyne Alef. With four species in Australia
  • Cephalohibiscus Ulbr. Contains only one type: Cephalohibiscus peekelii Ulbr. It occurs in Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands.

  • Thepparatia thailandica Phuph: home is Thailand
  • Tribus Hibisceae: It contains about 27 to 30 genera: Abelmoschus Medik. With about 15 species in tropical and subtropical regions in the Eastern Hemisphere. Some species are called Bisameibisch: Okra ( Abelmoschus esculentus (L. ) Moench )
  • Cenocentrum tonkinense Gagnepain: It comes in southern China, Laos, Thailand and Vietnam before
  • Humbertianthus cardiostegius Hochr. It occurs in Madagascar.
  • Kosteletzkya penta carpos (L.) Ledeb.
  • Phragmocarpidium heringeri Krapov. It occurs in Brazil.
  • Rojasimalva tetrahedralis Fryxell: It occurs only in Venezuela.
  • Symphyochlamys erlangeri Gürke: It is widespread in tropical Africa.
  • Tribus Kydieae: it contains about four genera: Dicellostyles Benth. , You probably contains only one type: Dicellostyles axillary ( Thwaites ) Bentham: It occurs only in Sri Lanka.
  • Nayariophyton zizyphifolium ( Griffith ) DGLong & AGMiller: It is common in India, Bhutan, Thailand and southern China only in Zhenkang in the southwestern Yunnan.
  • Not assigned to the tribe are the two genera: Howittia: it contains only one type: Howittia trilocularis F.Mueller: It occurs in south-eastern Australia.
  • Jumelleanthus perrieri Hochr. It occurs only in Madagascar.
