Mansudae Art Studio
The art troupe Art Studio is a studio in the North Korean capital Pyongyang P'yŏngch'ŏn - guyŏk district. With a total area of 120,000 square meters, it is the largest and most important art production facility in North Korea. It was founded in 1959 and employs approximately 4,000 employees, including about 1,000 trained painters, sculptors and other artists.
In the studio there are 13 creative groups and seven production factories. Are manufactured, among other bronzes, oil paintings, ceramic sculptures, woodcuts and the like.
The art studio is also a production site of numerous monumental statues in North Korea and takes over the construction company Mansudae Overseas Projects also international orders after.
History
The art troupe Art Studio was founded on 17 November 1959.
2005/ 06, the melted during World War II bronze figures of the Frankfurt fairytale fountain was reconstructed on the basis of photographs from the 1920s art troupe art studio. The contacts were made in advance of the Book Fair in 2004 to move North Korea to participate in the exhibition and to encourage the reform process of the socialist country.
In Genoa, Italy, the first exhibition of the studio in the western cultural area took place until 17 June 2007 of 17 May.
2011 was the South Korean police action against a smuggling ring, the painting was smuggled out of the art studio over China to South Korea in order to obtain foreign exchange for the country North Korea. Police estimated the revenue that got the studio through the smuggling business, to about 5500 euros a year. In addition, the studio had received about half of the profits from the sale of the paintings.
On 14 March 2012, two days before the day of the bright star which Kim Il-sung and Kim Jong- il was in the central square of the art studios in a ceremony unveiled a new monumental, 5.70 meters high bronze figure, as represents riders. This is the first of the typical North Korean leader representations of bronze, which simulates the died December 17, 2011 General Kim Jong- il. Previously there was only a single statue of the horse- Kim Il-sung on the pitch.
