Manuel Benavides is a municipality with 1601 inhabitants in the Mexican state of Chihuahua. The municipality has an area of ​​5032.182 km ².

The municipality is located in the extreme east of the state and is surrounded by the municipios Ojinaga and Camargo, the Mexican state of Coahuila and the U.S. state of Texas.

In the municipality there are 71 villages, the largest of the same name is the administrative seat of the municipios, Manuel Benavides.

History

In the 17th century the region was inhabited by Manuel Benavides of Apache Indians. 1773, the military prison in San Carlos de Cerro Gordo was founded on the present site of the municipios. Manuel Benavides was charged on the municipality in December 1937.
