Marc Platt (dancer)

Marc Platt ( born December 2, 1913 in Pasadena, California, † March 29, 2014 in San Rafael, California; actually Marcel Emile LEPLAT ) was an American dancer, choreographer, and film actor.

Life

Marc Platt took eleven years, his first ballet lessons from Mary Ann Wells. In the 1930s he began under the pseudonym Marc Platoff his professional dance career as one of the original members of the Ballets Russes. In 1939 he choreographed the musical Ghost Town to the music of Richard Rodgers. In 1943 he joined the premiere of the later Broadway Hitmusicals Oklahoma! as Curly McLain on in the lead role. Twelve years later, he starred in the film adaptation of the same screen, but only in a minor supporting role.

In the film, he had his most important role as Daniel in Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, 1954 ) on the side of Howard Keel and Jane Powell. Critics his dance performance was already in his debut film, the movie musical Tonight and Every Night (1945 ), praised, where he starred opposite Rita Hayworth and Janet Blair. So Bosley Crowther wrote in The New York Times: " Mr. Platts high jumps in this movie will catapult him into the Hollywood sky "Even Variety praised his performance: ". After Platt had finished his own dance career, he was responsible for a number of years to the ballet at Radio City Music Hall and began to train new talent. From his first marriage (1942-1947) was a son of actor Ted Le Plat, out. With the dancer Jean Goodall Marc Platt was married from 1951 until her death in 1994. From this connection, two more children come. Last Marc Platt lived in Santa Rosa, California, near his daughter Donna.
