Marcgraviastrum

Marcgraviastrum are a plant genus of the family of Marcgraviaceae with fifteen species.

Description

Marcgraviastrum are sprawling shrubs or lianas that often grow as epiphytes, their leaves are sessile or pedunculated.

Inflorescences umbel- shaped form slumped grapes from 5 to 14 (rarely 2-22 ) blossoms that stand on upright flower stems. Along with those are sessile, rarely stalked, drooping, sack - up tubular nectaries that focus on the lower part of the peduncle.

The flowers are fünfzählig, the petals are fused non- growing or different. There are twelve to numerous stamens, the stamens are almost completely straight up, only the outer circle are fused at the base with the crown. The ovary is incomplete five-to neunkammerig with numerous ovules per chamber.

Dissemination

The genus is neuweltlich, their range extends from Nicaragua over the Andes to Peru and Suriname and radiates far as eastern Brazil.
