Marco Di Vaio ( born July 15, 1976 in Rome, Italy) is an Italian football player.
Since his rapid ascent in 2003, he is considered one of the best Italian striker at all, yet he played 14 times for Italy. His strengths are his both feet as well as his flair for scoring chances.
Career
Marco Di Vaio began his career in the youth section of Lazio. In 1996 he made his debut in the senior squad. Further stations were among others Hellas Verona ( 1996), Bari (1996/ 97) and Salernitana Sport ( 1997-1999). With Salernitana he won the 1997/98 Serie B. The Romans contributed 21 hits to the rise of Campanian clubs in Serie A at and secured the title of the scorer. In the following season, however, the Salernitana rose despite twelve Di Vaio hits directly from again.
Therefore, in 1999 he moved to the Serie A club AC Parma. There Marco Di Vaio played for three years and met, among others on Hidetoshi Nakata, Johan Micoud, Márcio Amoroso, Sérgio Conceição. In 2002, he spent 26 million euros to Juventus, who experienced a very good season. He was a regular for his club and the national team. Having played a rather unremarkable at the European Football Championship in 2004, he went to the Spanish club Valencia CF.
In January 2006 Marco Di Vaio joined on loan from Valencia CF to AS Monaco in the summer of 2006, the Monegasque exercised their option to purchase and committed Di Vaio permanently. Reason for his departure from Valencia were the financial needs of the Association as well as a lack of discipline, which he allowed himself on 17 April 2005. Di Vaio was then replaced and had offensive gestures in the direction of the then coach, Antonio López made . He moved out after one year back to Italy. There he wrote in January 2007 for the second division Genoa a contract until the summer of 2009. In the return series of the 2006 /07 Di Vaio scored nine goals in 21 games and helped the Grifoni thus to promotion to Serie A in which he 2007/ 08 in 22 games scored just three goals.
For the season 2008/ 09 Marco Di Vaio moved to Serie A team FC Bologna and immediately scored on his debut for the Emilian club in a 2-1 away win against AC Milan 's first goal. In Bologna he stayed four years with the striker completed over a hundred duty games and 65 league goals scored before he signed a contract with the Montreal Impact of Major League Soccer.
In July 2012, it was announced that Di Vaio has to stand trial because he had not reported the Italian Association of match-fixing, which should have been known to him. Already in August 2012, Di Vaio, however, was acquitted by the Disciplinary Committee of the FIGC.
