Margaret of Bavaria, Marchioness of Mantua

Margaret of Bavaria (* January 1, 1442 in Munich, † October 14, 1479 in Mantua ) was a princess of Bavaria- Munich and by marriage Marchioness of Mantua.

Life

Margaret was a daughter of Duke Albert the Pious of Bavaria (1401-1460) from his marriage to Anna (1420-1474), daughter of Duke Eric I of Brunswick- Grubenhagen.

They married on May 10, 1463 in Mantua Marquis Federico I. Gonzaga of Mantua ( 1441-1484 ), whom she despite his physical deformity - he had a hump - loved, appreciated, and to boast of his moral qualities knew. The marital relationship deepened the trade between the two principalities. The court in Mantua was dominated by Margarete's mother Barbara and Margaret was considered enough to bow to this situation tactfully. Margarete died both before her mother, and her husband, and was buried in St. Andrew's church in Mantua.
