María Bayo

María José Bayo ( born May 28, 1961 in Fitero, Navarra, Spain) is a Spanish opera and concert singer in the vocal range soprano.

Life

María Bayo studied at the Conservatory in Pamplona and at the Hochschule für Musik Detmold. She attended master classes with the Spanish mezzo-soprano Teresa Berganza. 1988 began her international career by winning the first prize at the Belvedere Competition in Vienna. This was followed by engagements at many major opera houses and laid - play.

Critics praise her charisma, the glamor of her timbre as well as the elegance and harmony of her voice. María Bayo is referred to as " representative " of the Spanish Baroque, which is a focus of her work. Together with Plácido Domingo has given numerous concerts with Spanish music.
