Maria do Carmo Silveira

Maria do Carmo Trovoada Pires de Carvalho Silveira ( born 1960 (?) ) Was the Prime Minister and Finance Minister of São Tomé and Principe until 21 April 2006.

Prior to her appointment as Prime Minister on June 8, 2005, she was in 1999 Governor of the Central Bank of the country.

Silveira is a member of the party, Movimento de São Tomé e Príncipe de Libertação ( MLSTP - PSD ), the largest party in the National Assembly. She is the second woman to hold the Prime minister of the country.

Silveira is committed to financial support from the International Monetary Fund, a, because the country is deeply in debt.
