Maria Gadú

Mayra Corrêa Aygadoux, better known as Maria Gadú ( born December 4, 1986 in São Paulo ) is a Brazilian singer, composer and guitar player in the field of MPB. It was proposed as a singer for the Latin Grammy in 2010 in the Best New Artist category.

Biography

Even as a child Gadú was passionate about music. After only a few months of guitar lessons she could still read music, but already composing his own pieces. Since the age of 13 she performed in bars and at family celebrations. In early 2008 she moved to Rio de Janeiro, where she performed in the bars of the district Tijuca, where you became aware of her talent.

Beginning of 2009 brought Maria Gadú released their first album, which bears her name. Soon after the release of their album, the singer gained attention in the Brazilian media quickly. On February 21, 2010 Maria Gadú was awarded the gold record for selling over 50,000 CDs of their first album.

In 2010, she gave some concerts together with the Alt- star of the MPB, Caetano Veloso, resulting in a 2011 live album was published.

2011, the debut album by Maria Gadú was also released in Europe. In Portugal and Italy, it was also placed in the top ten and the song Shimbalaiê was in Italy a number -one hit. 2014 then appeared the album in Germany and was able to place there as well in the charts.
