Mariano Rivera Paz ( * September 24, 1804 in Guatemala City, † February 26, 1849 in Sampaquisoy, Jalapa, Guatemala ) was twice Guatemalan President.

Life

Mariano Rivera studied law at the Universidad San Carlos de Guatemala. Despite outstanding performances, however, he did not complete the study. In 1838 the troops of the conservative military leader Rafael Carrera conquered Guatemala City and forced the Liberal leader Mariano Gálvez to resign.
